On the first day your houseboat will be handed over to you. It will be your accommodation and gateway to serenity. You will be given full instructions on how to use the houseboat and if you need anything, help is just a phone call away. We will also give you some ideas on where to spend your first night on the water. After the instructions, it’s time to enjoy a piece or two of Alvari cake and a cup of coffee or tea, in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Jyväsjärvi.
Day 2 – Follow the master’s footsteps
On the morning of the second day you will continue your trip through the Lake Päijänne to Säynätsalo harbor, your second stop. In Säynätsalo, you’ll get to explore Säynätsalo town hall, considered one of Alvar Aalto’s most remarkable works! After a tour of Säynätsalo town hall and the island of Säynätsalo, it’s time to head back to Lake Päijänne and continue your journey towards the island of Muuratsalo. At the south end of Muuratsalo, spend the second night near nature and a sandy beach.
Day 3 – Experience the Experimental house
On the morning of a third day, get a good start for your day by enjoying a breakfast at a deck of the houseboat, while listening to the soft sound of waves lapping at the hull of the boat and the sun is shining from the horizon. After breakfast, you will start to head towards the church of Muurame and an Experimental house of Alvar Aalto in the island of Muuratsalo. After the tours, you can start to head back to the Jyväskylä harbour. During the last night on the lake, you can enjoy the serenity of the water and peace and quietness of the Finnish nature.
Day 4 – Explore the Alvar Aalto’s Jyväskylä
On the morning of the fourth day, you can return the houseboat to the harbor.
